The value of the ethereum virtual machine is that it is the only computer in the world with certain properties. It is permissionless (no one can stop someone else from using it) it is decentralized (no one owns it) it is trustless, it is available 24/7, and it is secure.

Eth was made because Vitalik saw that tokens couldn't be done well on BTC. BRC20 and Runes were made because people thought "but what if we could do tokens poorly?"
