【﻿⏻】Next year, Polygon zkEVM will be shut down. Even if it was overlooked (because the chain has been dead for about 1 year now), this is a huge failure of the Polygon Foundation and shows how they have been in disarray for years now. Everyone has always wondered the point of building a layer2, instead of continuing development on Polygon POS and Agglayer.

Polygon had purchased Hermez in 2021 for 250M, which then became Polygon zkEVM following a rebrand. 

The mainnet was launched more than 2 years ago when there was a boom in activity (and launches) of new layer2: Zksync, Starknet, Base, Linea, Scroll, etc

zkEVM has a fair amount of activity 2 years ago due to the founder of Polygon who suggests they could launch a new token. However, the chain appears to be disastrous: no scalability (huge slowness and fees of even $5!) and offers practically nothing in terms of farming. The chain has never been updated to use Blobs. 

In the last few months, some bridges, dexes and aggregators stopped supporting zkEVM, until the announcement of these days.
