A sleepy boyo. Endstage CHF is rough- but he’s still in high spirits. It’s not quite time yet but the shift in December was pretty stark. We have an amazing veterinarian though so he’s got all the care he needs to be happy this summer. Maybe next if we’re lucky too.

Last post for now I promise. Reached the end of the notebook. But one last major page to share… Before A Stage Reborn was created we weren’t sure if we wanted to be a charity or not. Our “studio” was going to be “MMOMOTION” but we went with A Stage Reborn. But to me it clearly screamed “this is going to be an arts charity” from the get go, because I discussed my aspirations to found the organization with Nick and other Seattle and WA attorneys. School rank plummeted after employment data audits revealed the school wasn’t calculating fairly, and it was changed, but the professors there you couldn’t get taught from anywhere else made it worth the debt. Especially as a builder who wanted to learn both how to build, and the rules to make sure what build cannot fall. A Stage Reborn turns 10 this year.

Likely dated strategy but, my cubicle was among all the business analysts so naturally I picked their brain on deck building. I had played and knew of the game but I wasn’t deeply into the game like others. I had a lot of fun learning not just the product from those guys, but just the company in general. Anyway, phenomenal place. I’ll always hold WOTC and those that were there during my stint in the highest regard. 🙂

Doesn’t look like a lawyer note but if I recall correctly this was the answer to, “so if we want to reject their redline how do you want me to say it professionally?” 😅 Sound advice tbf too.

Now the notebook is getting into the fun stuff breaking down contract writing. My supervisor told me it is, as much as you can call it, an art in law. If you could distill the critical court terms into the least amount of pages and not run afoul formatting or redline history issues you had transactional gold in ink. “Not UNABLE to,” replaced with “is not granting at this time” to prevent speculative language on future limitations when the response is for the request not the policy for example. It’s not really noticed anywhere. But lawyers notice. And to the accountants the department costs reflect that. (Lesson 2: in-house is an expense unit, your job is to justify why you don’t generate revenue to the accountants. lol)

And then this kind of wild stuff. “Russia Data Privacy Meeting” It was almost a decade ago but I think we all knew Crimea was, well. We see things now. “Oracle is not gunna solve this sorry!” I had written on a margin- can’t remember why I had written that though.

For anyone that’s a WOTC/MTG nerd the externship period I was there for was during this really insightful litigation that was ultimately settled. Obviously I can’t talk about specifics even with it being history, but it was a valuable time to learn quite literally almost everything in-house, from being counsel to dealing with outside council when litigation arises. (In-house attorneys themselves typically don’t rep. the companies in court, kind of like a lawyer going pro se- considered a bit of a faux pas most times.) I got distracted from packing and I’m reminiscing over my old WOTC journal pages now, lol. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2017/08/real-judge-no-you-dont-have-to-be-paid-as-a-magic-the-gathering-judge/

So as you can imagine today is a bit derailed due to cleaning/packing but it’s giving me a chance to finally go through a bunch of stuff and find some gems…

2012 napkin art by an old theatre friend and a silly little weighted credit music project I composed in high school around 2006 or so.

Is there a mini-app LetGo yet? I need to quickly sell some things to pay for travel arrangements for my dog in the next 30 days. He has end stage heart failure and cannot get cleared for plane travel, and I don’t have a car so I take the train. Pet friendly needs compact sleeper which is a little out of my comfort range, I don’t want to dip into rent/deposit savings we’ve been scrapping together for months. I don’t know if they’d have a local market for some of this but I’d love to do stuff like take a photo of my AT3035 XLR or my Movado wristwatch to sell that has value but I can’t take with me or sell locally. Rural living. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Traumatic memories. (They confiscated my hoodie because it wasn’t a pullover so I was freezing both days!) Any other lawyers trudge through a February bar exam? lol

Example Use Case/Scenario: Game Currency! This is a topic I’ve studied at a doctoral level. 1. You buy $100 “Crysta” for the Final Fantasy XIV cash shop, which “helps” perpetuate the game by profiting the team. 2. After a while you realize you’d rather have bought $50 Robux and $50 Crysta because you want to spoil your niece for a holiday. CASE: These aren’t exchangeable or even legally so, but if both were project and gas tokens on Base using EVM they could be. I wonder how many paid virtual game credits sit idle as “no longer value backed but technically had value backing our Board scraped for the shareholders” across accounts like unclaimed casino chips. Regulation changed about how Coinbase and others could ledger client holdings. Virtual credit systems off chain do not want this because it deflates their 409A and investors dump in turn. And many game companies like Square Enix have virtually lost ALL their profits since the pandemic. Something’s coming to a head on all this.

The idea for the Oz icon had some flavors before I settled on the white/black and yellow brick road.

Let my bugtester in me get the best of me and I found a weird bug with Monad Spin @gmonchain.eth I recorded. Looks like it you rapidly tap between menus, it nukes your ticket and counts as a loss 100% of the time.
