In 2019, I decided to take a year off from drinking alcohol. Yesterday marked six years since that day. I didn’t quit, but I don’t think I’ll ever drink again. Recovery has been a journey, and a couple of times a year, I still battle demons. It doesn’t get easier, but each day is a new day, and we keep climbing those mountains.

Be careful on the trails, friends. I’ve seen two rattlesnakes this week during my runs. One lunged at me as I ran past, and the other was crossing the trail…I saw its rattle just disappearing into the brush.

First day testing out the car sauna after an easy trail run. If you’re wondering what a car sauna is, it’s when you leave your car in the hot sun while you run, and once you finish, you crank the heater and drive home with all the windows up.

Been locked into training for the last 18 weeks. Came off marathon prep and rolled straight into this ultra block. The fitness is stacking, and I’m trying to carry that momentum into a faster 50K. But now I’m staring down the next move: do I send it harder at 50K, or go big and see what I’ve got at 50 miles?
