One reason I’m excited about these types of features: Most writers and readers are still deeply rooted in web2 platforms with *incredibly powerful* network effects. These network effects won't disappear over night. But if people experience magic without changing what they're doing, the tide can start to shift.

This is just the first step — I think we can make this much more enticing with a few improvements: - create an account by signing in w/ FC -> with the right permissions, any crosspost could be shared immediately to FC feed -> more visibility, discussion, and earnings for your writing - compelling monetization features -> our focus for 2H of 2025 and beyond is finding a way for writers to get paid in new ways that are 10x+ better than sponsorships, paid subscriptions, and Medium-like payments We'd love to have folks try this feature out & give us feedback on how we can make it more valuable. Let us know what you think!

If patronage is the goal, why not just let people pay writers directly? It’s the most consistent (and valid) critique we’ve heard about coins. "Can universities survive at all? I sure hope so because I believe short of the singularity, we absolutely need places that are dedicated to creating and sharing knowledge. But incremental changes won’t get the job done. Universities need to fundamentally reinvent themselves."
