would be careful with CRCL after its epic run from $39 at IPO to ~$300. current valuation within spitting distance of COIN is outlandish given CB gets ~half circle’s revenue. either that or COIN is wildly undervalued. suspect we’ll see CRCL in the double digits sometime in 2026. until then, let’s hope markets continue to be irrational.

the part in contention here is not the candidate’s pedigree itself but rather whether they are actually champions of the working class (as they claim) despite their silver spoon pedigree

fresh batch of CDs just arrived from japan including this rare hybrid SACD reissue of Herbie Hancock’s album Head Hunters. it comes in this huge oversized paper sleeve that makes it look like a 45 rather than a CD. the track Watermelon Man from this album is one of my fav hi-fi demo tracks due to its wild and inventive instrumentation. apart from just being good music, it helps to demonstrate a system’s ability to reproduce timbre accurately across a wide range of frequencies.

zohran winning the mayoral race would be a very entertaining outcome because it would force the dems to pick a lane between going further left or retreating to the center. feels like a “rubber meets the road” moment for socialist policies in america. if they actually work, dems become the party of AOC, ilhan, etc. if they don’t work, dems need to regroup and find a middle of the road direction.

really enjoyed reading this article by thiccy about how they met their co-founder: "Looking back, I see that what felt like an instant chemistry was actually a slow cumulative buildup of a hundred small exchanges. Neither of us were set out to find a cofounder or make new friends. It made me realize that simply practicing your obsessions in public where anyone can wander by is a reliable and effortless filtering mechanism to find people that you align with. The lesson now shapes how I seek every long term relationship, romantic, professional, or platonic. I think we index too hard on the first impression and don’t leave enough room for the second, third, and tenth impressions. The most aligned connections I’ve learned are rarely formed in serendipitous flashes of lightning like in the movies but rather formed gradually and effortlessly like sediment through hundreds of micro-interactions, shared quests, small victories and the occasional defeat." https://x.com/thiccyth0t/status/1937608328487821538

an unfortunate side effect to serial extractors taking advantage of the leaderboard is that it makes established users by default suspicious of new accounts rather than welcoming

pretty clear that there’s a relationship between prevalence of AC and economic output. nobody gets shit done when they’re sitting in a pool of their own sweat.

I think the worldcoin thesis makes a lot of sense (WLD tokenomics aside), but doesn’t solve the problem you might think. what we might call spam (low-quality content) is made by real people. the crisis is how to surface and properly value high-quality content.

we need the housing market to crash ~40-60%. we need to see plaintive articles in the NYT about how retirements were “erased overnight.” we need sob stories about how hard they worked and pulled themselves up by the bootstraps. then the market can go up again.

I do think that zohran is very charismatic and the type of leader that will win votes for the dems, basically a populist with mostly ineffective policy goals like trump. that said, I’m not really sure how these folks get away with lying about taxes. top 1% of earners in NYC paid nearly half (~48%) of all personal income tax in 2021, so the solution is to tax them…?
