I was born a quarter century ago today. Taking this special time to do something I haven’t done since I went to college – write a personal homepage with plain old HTML + CSS. Excited to share it soon. Follow /darrylyeo if you’d like to be the first to know when it’s ready.

Nothing annoys me more than submitting a form, hitting the submit button, seeing absolutely nothing happen, then refreshing the page to see a Cloudflare captcha. Then after that, having to fill the form out again 🤡

SvelteKit Remote Functions: what if we took all the best parts of tRPC, TanStack Query, React Server Functions and old Remix and offered them as composable primitives built into the meta-framework? And make them just work™ with all the super lean signal-based fine-grained reactivity goodies everyone already enjoys?

Remote Functions are coming to SvelteKit. They're defined in `.remote.ts` files, come in four flavors (`query` / `form` / `command` / `prerender`) and support any validation library adhering to the Standard Schema protocol. Benefits: end-to-end type-safety across frontend and backend, progressively enhanced forms that work with JavaScript disabled, and a slew of modern async request caching and invalidation patterns (single-flight mutations, partial pre-rendering, optimistic updates) built right in.

Tried the Claude Code CLI for the first time. Edits and tool calls are impressively fast. I love that it asks for permission to run CLI commands and makes sure it always reads what's in a file before writing to it (!). Interrupting it to make a clarification is super easy too – just press the Esc key and type what you want. Biggest downside for me is that all usage is at-cost. Within just a few hours my bill has completely dwarfed my $20/month Cursor Pro subscription (which already comes with unlimited Claude usage if you don't use “MAX mode”). https://www.anthropic.com/claude-code

Not having the ability to post a single cast in more than one channel is holding Farcaster back.

Spent my last afternoon in Prague sipping kombucha and cold brew at a café tucked away in the middle of a block in Smíchov. On top of that, the man sitting across from me and @anett brought with him two big adorable boiiis (who for some reason really liked how my hands tasted 😛)
