just published an article documenting my current thoughts on decentralized social as a whole and what I believe is needed to reach mainstream adoption tldr; we need to focus more on building consumer-friendly experiences with viral-potential that even non-technical users can immediately understand and use — applies to the entire crypto-industry imo would love to hear any thoughts on this, always happy to discuss it

right now, farcaster’s main appeal is that it feels like a small, aligned corner of the internet: pro-crypto, pro-decentralization, etc but that feeling probably fades once the network reaches a certain size — so what becomes farcaster’s main draw then? personally, i don’t think mini apps or decentralization alone will be enough to convert the mainstream the monetization opportunities are definitely compelling — but is that enough? is money more important than reach for creators? is money more important than entertainment for consumers? maybe farcaster will need a new kind of differentiation once it crosses that threshold

totally agree that trying to compete with tiktok makes no sense farcaster is special because it's not built for passive consumption — most people come here to build, learn and form genuine connections instead of chasing clout that's why I believe video has real potential here — if done right, it can actually deepen the connection layer that already sets farcaster apart from other networks there's an opportunity to create a new kind of video experience, one focused on authenticity over dopamine loops

You can now use the @dashapp share extension to open any video you see on Farcaster directly in the mini app! Just make sure you have the mini app added and you'll be able to use it on any cast with a video. dash.bnbs.dev
