This proposal from @vitalik.eth would be incredible for allowing smart contracts on Ethereum to expand to Rust and other languages: https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/long-term-l1-execution-layer-proposal-replace-the-evm-with-risc-v/23617 Zero knowledge virtual machines like @a16zcrypto’s Jolt, RiscZero, and Succinct’s SP1 use RISC-V, which opens the door for greater Ethereum compatibility with arbitrary Rust code, inheriting the tooling that is already being built around RISC-V

Rollups are only parasitic to ETH when they do the same thing as Ethereum Mainnet. As they become more customized and move away from “Ethereum but cheaper”, they’ll start to be additive. h/t to @raihan for the great conversation today

Ethereum public goods funding is alive and well. This is the real ETH alignment - supporting developers who are working day in day out to make the chain better

The entire history of computing is one of vertical scaling -> horizontal scaling Large alt L1s/L2s -> appchains is inevitable

Today we're bringing together everything: - DAOs taught us about ownership - working with consumer apps showed us scale - launching rollups revealed centralization risks They were all pieces of a bigger puzzle What we learned: - communities need real ownership - reaching scale comes from user alignment - value must flow to apps and their users - tech alone doesn't drive adoption Autonomous chains are our answer: a way for communities to truly own their platforms, control their economies & build their future. Excited to share more about what we're building. This brings together everything we've worked on since brainstorming the earliest aspects of Syndicate in 2018. The future is autonomous.

One useful trick when programming in a new language: Create a new chat with Claude/ChatGPT (new chat is important!) and ask it: "Can this [Rust] code be more idiomatic?" (Replace with your language) It'll often come up with very helpful refactors in the new chat that it wouldn't get to within an existing thread

I spoke too soon, now I need to handle inheritance in Dev Containers for specific services and everything is painful I feel like most GitHub tools are amazing in a single service but terrible once you need to extend them to multiple services (GitHub Actions is the same way)

I absolutely love Dev Containers and I wish that I started using them earlier Makes new dev environment setup super easy. Supported by most major IDEs + GitHub Codespaces, feels completely native. All of the upsides of containers (automation, trivial to rebuild) without the DX downsides of interacting with them
