It’s a bit ironic: Peter Thiel says you make the most money by avoiding competition, yet the best founders tend to be hyper-competitive. Just look at three of the most iconic founders: Zuck, Elon, and Sam Altman. They are all going after the same AI space. On that note, Zuck just announced he’s investing hundreds of billions of dollars in AI data centers.

It seems clear to me that OpenAI will eventually compete directly with the most popular applications built on top of its API, from note-taking to code assistance. They aren’t focused on this now because it isn’t their current bottleneck. However, it’s evident that some of these companies face an existential threat: once OpenAI scales, it could generate unprecedented revenue and easily run these products at a loss for a long time. I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes.....

Being away from Austin for a while has made me appreciate the city, and Texas, even more. When I first arrived, what stood out to me was how welcoming people in Texas are. But after spending time outside the state, I also see how great the services are in Austin. I really love this city!
