@frontend
gm. Been a bit quiet the last few days, and I want to be transparent. The market is red, the energy is a bit lower, and I've been thinking hard about the right path forward for Reply.
In the middle of that, I got this incredible, thought-provoking comment from @burr.eth. She suggested thinking about a pivot: instead of just focusing on paid DMs, what if @replyfarcaster became a tool to reward the best public "reply guys and gals"? A leaderboard for the best conversations happening in the open.
On one hand, she's right. The "earning economy" on Farcaster is undeniably powerful, and paid DMs are a tough market to crack.
On the other hand, my core mission for Reply was always to reduce noise and solve the DM spam problem. I worry a public rewards system could encourage the very spam we're trying to fight. I also believe an app should do one or two things really well, and avoid feature bloat.
So this is the big strategic question I'm wrestling with. How does a project like Reply navigate this? Do we stick to our core, high-signal mission in private DMs, or do we adapt to where the energy is in public rewards?
Genuinely have no idea what the right answer is. Would love to hear your thoughtful replies on this.
