I tried to onboard 3 people to Web3 this weekend and it was 10x harder than I thought it would be. For context, onboarding is a focus of mine - but I realized that I've never really left the echo chamber. I thought I had, but nope. If we really want to welcome in the "billion" like every Web3 homepage claims...we have a LONG way to go. The number one thing I learned from this experience this weekend was that the underlying ethos, the reason Web3 matters, is one that resonates with most people. People sick of being taken advantage of, being stepped on, and of not getting a fair shake. Crypto muddies the water. The tsunami of shitty unnecessary tokens muddies the water. The onslaught of scams... The high barriers to entry... The overly complex tech bro jargon... All of these things are keeping people out. That's what we need to attack if we actually want any of this to matter.
