I love the idea of public challenges. Its a great way to learn. Its time I do another. in 2020, I challenged myself to do 100 consecutive days of renders in Blender, and thats how I learned Blender pretty well. Doing it every day brought big lessons in time-management and productive workflows – not getting caught up in little details, working big and refining later. Like with my calligraphy, I had to let go of my ego and just make something. Come to think of it, its also how I learned calligraphy - just make 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, and try to do it every day. I thought about challenges because November is National Novel Writers Month - NaNoWriMo. Or was - the NaNoWrimo community felt abandoned by the org which embraced AI submissions, and the entire org has shut down after 25 years of conducting the writing challenge. Fortunately the spirit lives on and NaNoWriMo has been replaced by Writing Month https://writingmonth.org/ I dont write nearly enough but its a challenge I've often thought of participating in. I just realized it was that month again and I hadn't thought about it until now. I already have a challenge – otherwise I'd be considering it once again. The challenge is to release a /cryptoart app. My new years resolution was to do this. Lets see if i can finish it in November. Its time I take my lessons learned from 3d and calligraphy and apply them to coding. Dont get caught up in little details. Build the minimum featureset. Ship it. It doesnt have to be perfect or have all the features on day one – remember @clanker webapp on day one? Im not sure there was a css file. And look, clankers have already replaced fiat worldwide. I'm posting this for accountability – this is something I need to accomplish for my community and for myself. I've worked as a developer for around ten years combined but I've never released my own app. I have no excuse but a thousand reasons – one for each unfinished project in my ~/workspace directory. I got caught up in the little details. A bug took the wind out of my sails. I didnt properly plan the featureset. I ran out of time and put it on the backburner. I cant let it happen again. I will do my best to build in public and cast progress updates. You can follow along here and on github.

A lot of people asking themselves why they bother participating in farcaster anymore. Culturally bankrupt and socially desolate, the timeline has been dropped as a priority. Okay fine, so it's a unique type of wallet now. Or at least, until next week when X copies all core functionality. Doubtful they'll come for mini apps. That's the one biggest differentiator. Farcaster is still the best web3 dev sandbox. But if you want adoption for your social mini app.... well... Gotta build our own client. Thoughts?

Falling behind on genuary 2026 (which was always going to happen) but making great progress on some related work... Just learned about this recently open sourced AV project called nw_wrld for generating visuals with scripts that can receive messages from midi and osc. It's a work-at-the-library kinda day! My favorite place to sit and work. My tasks: • Continue writing article for /cryptoart, • give a stab at genuary /gen-art. • time to document some app bugs, maybe solve one. Soon back to heavy development of the cryptoart app. Really good features coming.

So my hot take the other day is my most popular cast ever. I know I said I'm more sick of crypto than I ever have been in 12 years in the industry. But this naive optimist right here is still motivated to make the space better for art. Having blown off steam and rested, I'm ready to start formulating my thoughts into an article that explains why I am building an app and how we can change the crypto landscape together. More tools for artists and collectors coming soon in the new year to the /cryptoart app! It's going to take the entire community but we can absolutely transform and reinvigorate the culture.

Got my home recording studio set up last night! All instruments ready to record. First, I made a little test recording last night with my bass guitar and then dubbed it to the 4-track and then back into the computer. It gave the recording that wonderful warming tape effect. Stoked to put this set up to greater use after xmas!

I genuinely love all my jobs. Rarely have I been able to say that throughout life. - artist - developer of an artist platform - cargo bike mechanic - pedicab driver + mech - swim teacher I get such a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment from each one. Too bad I barely pay the bills with all five combined. Broke and happy is still better than the alternative. Anyway, time to hustle up some Christmas cash!

Its an incredible feeling to have built an app to completion. I cant tell you the number of times I've gone back to the drawing board. I've discarded prototypes and started from scratch building this auctionhouse ten times by now. New years resolution completed! Next year lets see if I can release one a month 🤣 feeling incredibly motivated. Holler if you're an artist or collector and you want to test the /cryptoart app before launch.
