So apparently @base.base.eth was down for some time today
@emmo00 is formulation Proof of Competence (PoC) for the m3terchain that allows us to get rid of the P2P gossip overhead, while keeping the network resilient from the issue of have a centralised sequencer (or prover in this case)

"Proof of Competence"... Sounds cool, but what would it mean?
Our discussions were originally around building a gossip network, where every transaction is shared and stored on all nodes within the network. But did we need it to be that complex?
Similar to L2s like Base with a single sequencer, m3terchain could follow a similar path and implement something simpler.
But the m3terchain is a little different - anyone willing and capable can become a verifier on the network. Why lose that flexibility? A single verifier introduces risks - not just centralization, but also bottlenecks and potential points of failure.
So, how do we allow "willing" and "capable" individuals to contribute to the network? Emphasis on "capable" to avoid distracting and slowing down other nodes.
PoC would let anyone prove their capability to a smart contract. If they pass, they’re added to the pool of nodes that can handle transactions.
