Every night in Thirsk, a flock of about 30 ducks leaves their river and waddles through town to sleep in a cobblestone parking lot in the center. 🦆
It is not the safest commute, so neighbors have stepped in to help. Locals now take turns as "duck wardens," guiding the ducks across busy streets, setting out cones around their chosen sleep spot, and staying late into the night to keep them safe and calm.
What started with a simple social media group has turned into a whole town looking out for their nighttime visitors. The people of Thirsk are even working with the council on duck crossing signs, all so these little waddlers can keep their routine. ❤️
