Normalized: Buy the band merch first, then discover the music.
I've bought tons of band tees without knowing their sound, purely hooked by the killer artwork. So far, the music has never disappointed.
This is my personal way to curate new music. More fun with the surprise and uncertainty vs algorithm-fed picks.
It’s positive sum: if it doesn’t resonate, you still get great merch supporting the musicians, artists, and ecosystem. If it does, it validates your taste plus great merch. Everybody wins.
Reminds me of buying cassettes/CDs in stores, judging solely by the cover art.
