— I'm suspending work on Handshake indefinitely
— /beachfront will continue to exist but no new features/releases
Decision was made roughly two weeks ago. I was saddened but ultimately feel it's for the best.
I enjoyed spending the last four years of my life working to bring awareness, understanding, and excitement to Handshake via posting across Mastodon, Farcaster, Slack, and LinkedIn, and building in public.
We have a LOT of silent onlookers who are aware of us and the tech but...they're also aware of how embarrassingly toxic our community is. Despite my endless optimism that *someday* we'll get our act together and move in concert, I gotta admit...it's gotten to me.
These past few weeks away from Handshake has felt great. Fantastic even.

Want to swap your crypto? Don't want to pay weird fees? There's now an escrow service on https://🤝/ (you'll have to install a lightweight Handshake resolver to try it).

The proposal failed to reach meaningful consensus, so it is closed. It's unfortunate when people don't want to help themselves.
Naysayers are content with doing nothing, so nothing it shall be.
In other news, talks of a hard fork are underway.

The proposal has been updated with clarifications following the Twitter Space. Namely, the multi-sig owners do not own any money, nor do they make decisions on behalf of the community. They EXECUTE the will of the community.
Not sure why this had to be spelled out but, here we are.

IMPORTANT HANDSHAKE DISCUSSION
We have 1 BILLION $HNS locked up and that's...ridiculous. We've just been sitting on it all this time?
These funds should be re-allocated to a community-controlled fund. Let's get builders and creators on board, vote now!
