There’s an interesting delineation between people who blame externals
and people who take responsibility for their choices 😉
Psychology calls this your locus of control (Julian Rotter)
Internal locus of control
Outcomes are influenced mainly by your choices and actions
External locus of control
Outcomes are mostly shaped by luck, fate, systems, or other people
An internal locus does not mean ignoring reality
It means focusing attention where your influence exists
Over time, that tends to produce stronger learning loops, persistence, and leadership
Something to contemplate: What if you took responsibility for your choices?
