Collective of Artists vs Influencers ----------- tldr: Assets are the only place for artists because an 'Asset is most durable -- assuming you can maintain interest in the asset' - @dwr ----------- Free entertainment dominates attention For reference - 90% of people on social media sites passively consume > video dominates (infinite 'tv channels') - 1% of people create, where attention scales exponentially for the top, professional creators >video still dominates (now finite channels, where most people gift their daily attention) Professional creators / influencers capturing the most attention are people playing characters to varying degrees, they: - plan what happens to the character ('writing') - film their character's experiences ('acting') - in post they add visual elements and music to enhance the entertainment and hooks ('music' and 'visual art') Luckily, these people won't risk their current revenue streams of ads, product placement, etc... Therefore its open seasons to steal attention on the majors (speculators love increases in attention btw, just look at how @zinger trades), which has a nice feedback loop to power the creation of free entertainment. ------ Artists Creating Together ------ Writers + Actors + Musicians + Visual Artists all produce infinitely better art than the influencers billing top attention, but the top influencers' advantage lies in putting all 4 of these mediums together in 1, continuing storyline... Their storylines are tired though The nice thing about writers + actors + musicians + visual artists is their mediums go beyond 'reality tv' > their skill sets can combine to create a [show/movie/film/anime]. The above isn't revolutionary though But mechanically it is not hard to see if a [show/movie/film/anime] goes viral on a major site, then it'll drive demand on its crypto rails. Artists could both sell into that increase of volume, while they collect trading fees (more in yesterday's post https://farcaster.xyz/tcw/0x67a2aa1f). ----- Distribution vs Development ----- How do you build up attention for a breakout success of a [show/movie/film/anime] on crypto rails? Hollywood and even Influencers don't start marketing and advertising until they're in post production, when they have clips, trailers and movie posters / thumbnails to hook initial attention. Measured in days to weeks ahead of time + reliant on passive consumers to remember to consume upon release. To beat them, start in the first stage of 'development'. It's why each /filmatree starts with open castings (/poidh coded btw): 1. Establishes a new type of storyline to be both passively consumed and actively experienced, where people of vary talents (beginners to pros all welcome) show branching possibilities => early sharing, network exposure as people share favorites, encourage followers to go vote 2. Playable tryouts for minor roles mean sharable experiences for free, scalable, entertainment Finding the talent (musicians, visual artist, writers and actors) in an open and decentralized way, catalyzes fan and supporters to pay attention as things move to production. It also tells a story for the passive consumers looking for storyline content everyday in a variety of mediums: music, visual, written and people (actors). ----- Maintain Attention ----- Artists picked by the people, that tells a story of preproduction. Then it rolls into the story of creating and playing during production. All capped off by the finalizing/polishing of postproduction - right around the same time that Hollywood and influencers would start teasing, marketing and advertising - except the filmatree in questions has been building attention for months, organically through story and playable elements during the entire filmmaking process. So when the time comes to share the free entertainment in the form of [show/movie/film/anime] you've connected a bunch of people together: 1. All of the artists that have worked on the tree 2. All of the fans / supporters that played part too 3. All of the people that have gamed 4. All of the people passively watching 5. All of the people already trading (believers and speculators alike) Any-given algorithm that sees these 5, normally non-connected, groups interacting heavily around 1 account and videos it post will start to boost the videos in the feed, increasing the chance of virality. The dramatic increase in attention (viral or not) will loop in attention traders. More importantly the natural spacing between episodes during this increase in attention permits showing off the novel elements: 1. playable elements during the premier 2. artists highlights/interviews + showcasing them getting paid All of which drives attention back to the connecting fiber of the filmatree process & filmatree token to keep some of the new found attention until the next trees can be grown (a few weeks after the end of the premier) To enrich artists and entertain the internet Filmatree to Forest

Solving how artists get paid with /filmatree: Filmmaking is the perfect avenue where a ton of artists (like writers, visual artists, actors and musicians) all concentrate around making a film, anime, movie or tv show. Alone on a social network, you're posting for interactions to boost you higher in the feed. If you're getting interaction from outside of your network, you'll be boosted even higher. The ultimate boosting comes from constant new interactions or big jumps in interactions. So if you go from creating visual art on your own to creating with writers, voice actors and musicians, you're getting a natural exposure to their networks as you socialize and post about the anime/film/movie/show you're helping to create. This is just a 1 to 1 port of filmmaking to a social timeline though, with tokens it becomes bigger. When traders, collectors and speculators are all introduced, the natural attention that swells when dropping teasers and previews naturally leads to surges in the trading of any associated tokens, i.e. artist / creator coins. /filmatree enters here: take all of the above and pair it with a playable game for the people that'd rather be active fans/audience. Give them a new experience, power in some creative decisions and chances to win memorabilia. Natural they'll comment and share with their social networks, especially if something magical happens, helping further expand outside network reach. one last twist: @filmatree is a new filmmaking process ~ 3 acts, entirely onchain, instead of 5 stages mostly off-line. Each act offers opportunity to highlight/swell attention to artists, while major milestones during and between acts gets them paid. Take, for example, planned 1 of 1 auctions for each artist attached to a filmatree: - of course an artist gets paid for their 1 of 1 art. Hopefully the attention & bidding process drives collection of other artworks too - plus traders and speculators will trade artist/creator tokens ahead of the announcement and subsequent auction of any given artists, in attempt to front-run the attention. There are more mechanism to pay artist as well from both the film/anime/show and the play of the game like the trading fees that can come from both, collectibles and auctions of the milestones of the joint-creative-process. Highlight has not been friendly today. My fault for trying to do this day of really. Trying to figure out a different way to get these into the hands of everyone who has a Window Seat hypersub that so we can play starting Sunday and I can finally introduce to you why I believe the Farcaster timeline is where the next great film studio will come from It’s been a long day so for now I say goodnight and more to come tomorrow
