My takeaways from the podcast featuring the Liberman brothers, founders of the decentralized AI project Gonka.ai. 1. Bitcoin is the world’s main data center; its total computational power is still larger than all AI data centers combined. 2. According to the Libermans, about 10% of miners will eventually switch to mining Gonka, providing compute for decentralized AI. 3. The efficiency of ASICs used to mine BTC has increased 300x over 13 years. We may see something similar happen with AI chips. 4. Render and Filecoin are real, globally used products—video rendering and cloud storage. But their tokens keep trending down. Why? More on that in the conclusions. 5. Renting GPUs for AI costs around $50 per day. You spend that money and potentially earn mined tokens that might be worth more later… or might not. 😆 6. The initial cost of mining 1 Gonka token was 2 cents. By the time of the podcast, it had risen to 10 cents. 7. In the future, each of us will have personal robots that we can rent out for different types of work—factory jobs, restaurant service, taxi driving (it’ll be cross-platform, not controlled by autonomous-car monopolies), cooking, cleaning someone’s home, and so on. 8. A possible robot-sharing model: 7 hours working at home, 3 hours charging, 7 hours working your job, 7 hours helping society and the government—building roads, placing IV drips, etc. In about 30 years, we may have one robot per person (a bit like Star Wars). Estimated cost of such a robot: about $5,000. 9. In 2001, free Linux held only 1% of the OS market. Today, 80% of servers, networking equipment, and mobile devices (Android) run Linux. The same thing may happen with AI: today 99% is controlled by monopolists, but projects like Gonka may change the landscape. 10. The next generation of Bitcoin ASIC chips will likely support AI computations. 11. Market leaders in decentralized GPU: Bittensor, Render, Akash, Gensyn. 12. Independent countries are very concerned about US/China AI dominance; they want their own sovereign AI as soon as possible. That’s why nations with strong mining infrastructure, like Kazakhstan and Bhutan, are moving into this field. Durov’s interest in Kazakhstan is directly connected to its excess GPU capacity. We should watch these countries closely to see which platforms they choose. CONCLUSIONS We already have Filecoin, Render, Helium. These decentralized systems work, but they lack monetary function. Because of that, they attract mostly industry professionals, and AI tokens like Gonka will likely follow the same path. Bitcoin and Ethereum do have monetary function. Bitcoin is digital gold. Ethereum is digital real estate in a global registry of rights, with the ability to earn yield from ownership. Stake ETH and earn passive income independently of governments. If you want to speculate on Gonka or other decentralized-AI mining projects, don’t invest too much, especially since it’s quite expensive, starting at around $1,500 per month. Following Taleb’s Barbell Strategy, it makes sense to keep 90% in the most reliable assets like BTC and ETH, and the rest in higher-risk plays such as Gonka. I believe in the future of AI, but I’m not convinced that its tokens will outperform BTC and ETH. If I had to choose where to store 100% of my assets for the next 100 years, I’d pick Ethereum. I go to Ethereum conferences every year just to reaffirm that everything is on track. 🤓 P.S. Bitcoin and social capital are also great investments, right alongside Ethereum.

It’s completely incorrect to compare the prices of BTC, ETH, and SOL. If you see such a comparison, it’s foolish on the author’s part. With ETH and SOL, you can conservatively stake and restake your assets, which helps offset the token's inflation—something that isn’t reflected in price charts. But this yield is real. On top of that, you receive airdrops. This is a decentralized economy, after all, and every project will have its own token. With BTC, you might put your funds in a cold wallet and a year later forget your passphrase—just like what happened to me recently. But with Eth and Sol, greed will keep you actively using your wallets because the decentralized economy constantly rewards you with airdrops, incentives, and memecoins. This makes you wealthier & you never forget your passphrases. Let others store their ETH and SOL on exchanges, leaving all the real gains to us. Let them celebrate Bitcoin "outperforming" Ethereum and Solana. We’re more than happy with this setup. :)

99% of tokens will not reach their previous ATH in the next decade because they are simply pump’n’dump schemes. The only difference between projects is the size of their marketing budget. In the crypto space, the budget traditionally goes toward two main areas: 1. Airdrops, as seen with projects like Moxie, Stepn, Axie Infinity. 2. Short-term liquidity pool retention. For example, the Moxie token dropped from $0.014 on August 2 to $0.0019 by September 14—a 7.4x decrease in just 40 days. Currently, it is trading at 13 times lower than its peak. GST (Stepn) rose from $1.30 on December 23, 2022, to $6.40 on April 28, 2023—a 5x increase in 4 months—only to crash 128x in the next 50 days. This is what happens to 99% of tokens. That’s why I sell at the first unlock or within a month of the pump beginning—project organizers simply don’t have the funds to sustain the pump any longer. What I believe in: open-source industry-leading products like ETH, SOL, and AI16Z. Cultural memes like DEGEN.

A cool idea came to mind: managing a public portfolio called "Retired because of AI." This portfolio would be my insurance against the rise of AI. The industry is just emerging, with AI-to-AI transactions currently limited to Solana and Ethereum. I'll allocate 1% to projects whose GitHub code gains significant popularity. https://dropstab.com/p/c48wi6u8zs

Key Events of the Year: 1. Ethereum lost market share to Solana in terms of cheap trading of meme coins. 2. The launch of the $PENGU token by NFT market leaders Pudgy Penguins on Solana. 3. The first open-source AI agent with the token $AI16Z on Solana. 4. The victory of the OP Stack, led by Base. Conclusions: 1. Reallocating 1/5 of my assets to Solana, buying some AI agents, and waiting for the first leaders in new niches, like $AI16Z. 2. I’m keeping 50% in Base, buying a few AI agents, and waiting for the first leaders in emerging niches like $VIRTUALS. 3. The rest of my assets are either staked on Ethereum or locked on Mainnet. 4. I’m no longer waiting for zk rollups on Ethereum—they will inevitably arrive in both the mainnet and L2s after updates. I’ll now look for new L2 networks primarily on Solana. 5. My main investment focus is on AI agents, Farcaster, and Base. I plan to dedicate 90% of my research time to working with AI agents and scripts to enhance their functionality.
