at its core, Dune Messiah is about the limits of knowledge and leadership the ability to see and shape the future is equal parts burden and gift

'Empires do not suffer emptiness of purpose at the time of their creation. It is when they have become established that aims are lost and replaced by vague ritual.' I thought about Google, but applies to almost any project.

The part about Jamis being granted some sort of immortality by dying to Paul in duel (and Jamis somehow maybe sensing this at the time) stuck in my mind.

'You have damp hands!' as a way to call someone greedy is just 🤌 The culture and world-building around Arrakis and the Fremen is a big reason i enjoy these books.

Impression of chapter 1: It seems to expand the universe of Dune by introducing the Tleilaxu (and lesser degree Edric the navigator). I get the impression theyre from a far away place (they produced multiple of their own kwisatz that the reverend mother is unaware of?) but now are drawn into the battle against Paul.
