using some downtime before the post season starts to give a bit of credit where credit is due. Added attribution to the underlying creative commons database for databaseball.fun excited to reach out to SABR some day. They are the org that has pioneered advanced stats research for baseball since the early 70s. Stats quant heroes like Bill James among them.

Should we make a clone of Bases Loaded that replays at bats from Databaseball game data? Is the Jaleco team on Farcaster?

19 HR in 1914 was a lot. This was one of Cravath's best seasons, and he was likely the best deadball slugger, though Sam Crawford was close. That said, Databaseball's sim engine doesn't interpret stats with era modifiers, I think its more interesting to use player seasons for their idiosyncratic elements. Someone else could certainly do it, tho. Check out Gavvy Cravath (1914 PHI). He hit 0.299 with 19 hr and 14 sb, a 6.1 Player Value on DatabaseBall! πŸ†βšΎ

First baseball game I went to was Mariners against the Dbacks watching Rickey Henderson play. Didn't realize who he was and what he meant to the game until afterwards. But it made me fall in love with the sport and especially the Dbacks, then in turn AZ. After the game, I bought a handheld radio and would listen to every game and learned the art of keeping score. It was my way of connecting with the people of the city and state. To this day if I am asked where I'm from, answer is Arizona. I keep the game in my favorite photos as a memory. Also of simpler times (atleast to me). Rooting for the Mariners this year and really hope they win the pennant. About time.

Wow! Highest PV I've see so far. 9.9! Ed Walsh's 1910 season was crazy! A 1.27 ERA in 369 innings! Dude allowed 5 HR and had a WHIP of .82, while striking out 258 batters. Going to be a stud for TOOTBLANS Check out Ed Walsh (1910 CHA) - 9.9 Player Value on DatabaseBall! πŸ†βšΎ

oh wow missed this pull. 1996 Tony Gwynn hit .353 in a '96, the third of four straight batting titles. In databaseball, he's only played in 2 games, but he's 4/7 hitting .571 so far! Check out Tony Gwynn (1996 SDP) - 2.4 Player Value on DatabaseBall! πŸ†βšΎ

SS Michael Young - 2006 ~ vs ~ SS Joe Tinker - 1906 Pure offense from the steroid era vs defense and speed from the deadball era. Who would you choose? Both recent pulls in Databaseball https://www.databaseball.fun/player/428
