I recently checked out the newly opened Leona Botanical Cafe; It's co-owned by owners of Veracruz & Dee Dee, fusing Thai and Mexican influences into a multi-eatery and cafe bar on 5 acres land once owned by women's advocacy philanthropist Betty Grubbs.
The property features a cafe & bar, three eateries (only 2 open right now), and a botanical garden featuring 90 trees preserved from the original site, over 7,000 native plants, and a stream through the center that separates the main cafe from the dining outposts. The plants were designed to feature different seasonal blooms throughout the year so the landscape is in constant change.
The team partnered with architecture firm Clayton Korte, landscape architecture firm Campbell, engineering firm MIGL, general contractor G Creek, and landscape contractor X Scrapes Environmental to build this space.
Definitely worth a trip out to Sunset Valley to relax and explore for a few hours. But choose your time wisely — the weekend was insanely crowded.
