Most NFT Discords are dead at worst, and gm graveyards at best.
We are choosing to see this as a feature.
The empty channel is not the enemy. The empty channel is the substrate. The ruins are where the good stuff usually starts growing again.
Since the beginning of 1337, we’ve been writing 9m to each other every day. Unless you’re a gm pleb. It is a stupid little ritual, which is how you know it might be important.
Not a quest. Not a campaign. Not a fake engagement funnel with a leaderboard wearing a little hat.
Just a signal:
I am still here.
The skulls are still here.
The server is technically breathing.
1337 has always been built from this kind of material. Pixels. Jokes. Mistakes. Remixes. Screenshots. Weird speech. Half-serious systems that become real because enough people keep touching them.
The original 1337 Skulls mint had one simple rule:
YOMO: You Only Mint Once.
One wallet. One mint. One chance. It was our answer to free-mint bot hell. A simple constraint that helped create a fair, well-distributed, fully onchain, CC0 collection.
Now we have a new rule:
YHTBT: You Had To Be There.
9m Skulls is not a mint page. There is no mint page. You cannot grind a website. You cannot mint harder. You cannot improve your odds by stacking more 1337 assets in your wallet.
This time the unit of participation is not capital.
It is presence.
The only way to get a 9m Skull is to show up in the 1337 Discord, enter #1337, and type:
!9m
Once per day, the 9m bot will show you a randomized 9m Skull and your current streak.
Days 1 to 6 are the warmup.
You show up.
You pull a skull.
You keep the line alive.
On day 7, the ritual hardens into an object.
Reach a one week streak and we will airdrop you the 9m Skull you pulled on your 7th day.
Miss a day and the streak breaks.
Computer says no.
Keep the streak going and your chances of pulling something rare go up. Every week your streak stays alive, you can earn another 9m Skull.
That is the whole machine.
Show up.
Type the thing.
Come back tomorrow.
The collection is free, fully onchain, CC0, and minted on Ethereum mainnet.
Airdrops will go out automatically when gas is favorable. If the market wakes up and 100 gwei becomes normal again, we may have to switch from airdrop to claim, because even skull culture has to respect the gas goblin.
This is not an attempt to make Discord “active” in the normal community-manager sense. We are not trying to fill the chat with noise. We are not trying to trick people into pretending. We are not launching homework.
We are taking the smallest living ritual in the room and giving it an onchain body.
1337 has never been clean.
It has never been a normal company.
It has never been very good at pretending Discord is a professional environment.
Gooooood.
A perfectly clean Discord is usually dead.
A healthy one has ghosts, jokes, old channels, bad ideas before they become good ideas, and at least one daily message that makes no sense unless you were already there.
That is the point.
You had to be there.
And if you were not there: come back tomorrow.

For some reason yesterday the Brians post didn’t go out and my streak is officially over. It was a good run while it lasted, 635 days.
