some opinions on farcaster social challenges
- eth echo chamber: not enough focus outside of ethereum
- eth price: unfortunate reality but network effects are reflexive and price has a huge impact in either direction
- builders/founders focus: feels like linkedin, vibes are way off
- CT is king: whats the value prop? the alpha and memes are still on CT. early fc was fun but paid channels and other choices made it boring/confusing and lost momentum
- content coins suck, no one wants this/base is cringe
- social wallets suck, no one needs this/privacy concerns
- dwr is arrogant: myspace tom was your friend, dwr dunks on you in a quote cast if you criticize fc
- name: farcaster/warpcast is confusing and both names kinda suck tbh
there’s still potential here, and i think the biggest opportunity for the protocol is music. we see DSPs adding social features and it feels like fc would be a perfect distribution channel for less established artists to generate income and engagement
