Tantallon Castle’
One of the last great medieval curtain wall castles constructed in Scotland, Tantallon Castle was the stronghold of the Douglas family for over 300 years.
Built in the mid~14th century, it was besieged multiple times, including by King James IV and King James V.
The now ruined fortress was severely damaged by Oliver Cromwell’s forces in 1651, thereafter it was left abandoned.
