"It's the monster!! Let's run away!"
— 4 or 5yo boy on my jog to his dad as I approach
Not only have I never seen this boy in my life, I'm absolutely plodding — like 12m/mile pace.
But my son is the same age, so I put on my best goofy monster voice and yell back "yes! I'm here! run faster!"
I catch up slowly and child and dad keep running for another 100 meters or so.
The boy's father asks him if he wants to slow down yet but he continues, so eventually I say "why don't we take a quick break," which is enough for the child to slow.
I glance at the dad for a laugh, and then continue on my way.
Life is good.
