Beautiful piece of writing. I left the US for abroad when I was 18 and haven't really turned back aside from a few short stints.
Nonetheless, I love the best of our country and want it to become better. For all our culture's faults, its risk-taking nature, compassion, work ethic, and optimism are a powerful composition.
I want to feel good raising my son in the US and hope we can get there.
