Bull in a Musth. Elephant males do not come to their prime until they are between 30 to 35 years of age. around this time, they experience a period of musth. Musth is a healthy, periodic condition in male elephants. Their reproductive hormones go into overdrive. Their testosterone levels in an elephant in Musth can be as much as 60 times greater than in the same elephant at other times. Musth period can last for about 6 months. This bull was very aggressive and he was knocking over trees like matchsticks. Elephants are so violent during musth that scientists have struggled to study the condition, leaving its cause largely a matter of speculation.
