@zd
i think the whole show is revealing that the main characters all want to be people they're not - and being that person is the only way they'll love themselves
the sam rockwell scene set the whole thing in motion, and based on that, i originally thought:
- the dad wants to be "not a fraud"
- saxon wants to be his dad
- lochlan wants to be saxon
- piper wants to be a monk
now, based on the recent episode, i think
- the dad is finding peace in death
- saxon realizes he's not who he thought he was
- lochlan realizes saxon isn't happy with that happened, and he's now seeking attention from piper (and i think we now know where that goes)
- piper wants to be a monk as a form of escape, but will never truly become one (as evidenced by her "asking to sit" w the head monk and then yapping 5 seconds into the silence)
regardless of who they want to be, their demons stay with them - no matter how hard they try to forget or deny reality
