. @serduncan is building on Farcaster’s open, decentralized social graph. Farcaster separates identity, storage, and clients. Your account is tied to an onchain key, but your casts live on distributed hubs, not a single company server. That means apps can read and write to the same social graph without owning it.
Under the hood, Farcaster uses signed messages. Every cast, like, and follow is cryptographically signed by your account’s signer. Hubs replicate this data across the network, so apps stay in sync. Storage is rented, which prevents spam and keeps the network sustainable.
Clients like Farcaster surface the data, but developers can build their own experiences with the same protocol. Mini apps plug directly into casts using embeds and wallet actions, powered by built-in crypto rails on Base and Ethereum.
