Let's talk about loss aversion. My wife hit a deer last month, and when I spoke to the body shop, I asked them on average how many cars come in because of them, and he said something crazy like 60-70%. Now think about that for a minute. I live in Fairfield County where the white-tailed deer population is out of control ever since they revoked hunting permits. What if there was a state mandate for every car in this county to be outfitted with a deer or moose whistle to scare them away proactively before they run into you? How many billions in claims would be avoided if something so simple like this was implemented? How much cost savings on premiums could this legislative policy unlock? God bless our freedoms, but also sanity for fuck's sake.
