Spark https://x.com/vitalikbuterin/status/1828727585204842867?s=46 by V’s post today Airdrops often fail, with less than half achieving their goals. Since 2020, $32 billion in airdrops were issued, but $7.8 billion was lost due to dumping or inactive wallets, excluding losses from farms and bots. The core problem is poor targeting, leading to waste. As Vitalik Buterin noted, many tokens go to random recipients or get lost. Distribution needs to be more focused to reflect real contributions. Social capital, beyond just keys or URIs, represents trust and relationships in a community. Trustless protocols should use universal profiles enriched by on-chain and off-chain interactions. Leveraging social capital can make token launches fairer and reduce waste. A balanced distribution model reflecting true contributions is key to success in decentralized systems.
