The highest mountain, Mt. Everest is 8,848 meters high. With that statement, how high can an average human being climb without suffering altitude sicknesses? Everest doesn't really have anything to do with the question, but it's excuse enough to relate my experience. When I was in high-school, other prospective officers and I attended a week-long Summer Seminar at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs (1995). We attended classes and worked out, ran, played basketball, and swam, while going on some field trips, and there was a sort of dance thing at the end. The Academy is located at 7200ft/2900m. At this altitude, we could feel it, you felt somewhat winded all the time, but nobody got sick, we were in good shape and the altitude didn't stop us from doing anything. We did not feel it by the end of the week.
