Thoughts on Body for Life (Bill Phillips) I started seeing a trainer and they follow this, and I really really like it. It gives me the structure I feel I need to stick with it, it progressively increases, there's plenty of variety and the logging / achievements are tangible. I can't see anything wrong with it, so naturally I'll ask a bunch of uncredentialed and vocal strangers what they think.

If you’re just starting out it’s probably fine. If you’re trying to really optimize the lifting side of things I’d probably lay out the programming differently, but we’re talking minor improvements. If you enjoy it and can be consistent and work hard, you’re 95% of the way to optimal anyways. At a meta level, I would kind of question whether it’s worth paying a trainer who is giving you a cookie cutter template from the early 90s. Exercise science has progressed a lot since then and I’d personally want someone who’s continued their education
