This was inspired by something @nounishprof said on @gmfarcaster moments ago about how crypto increasingly feels like it’s just becoming TradFi-onchain while a lot of other projects fade away or shut down. And honestly? That may actually be part of a larger evolutionary cycle. Crypto’s early years looked a lot like primordial evolution. Infinite experiments. Chaotic mutation. Thousands of organisms competing for attention, liquidity, & survival. Then came the extinction pressures: * tighter liquidity * regulation * user fatigue * collapsing narratives * AI absorbing attention * projects with no real utility fading away And ... that may have been necessary. Because evolutionary explosions usually happen *after* bottlenecks. The weak structures die off. The adaptable ones survive. Infrastructure stabilizes. New environments emerge. Now we’re watching: * TradFi normalize crypto rails * wallets become invisible * UX improve * stablecoins spread globally * AI agents begin interacting economically * social + financial layers merge * real communities outlast pure speculation But the next phase likely goes far beyond finance. More ways for: * artists to coordinate communities * creators to own their ecosystems * games to sustain living worlds * fans to participate directly * cultures to form digitally * AI & humans to collaborate creatively * communities to reward meaning, not just attention * identity & reputation to travel across the internet * niche groups to thrive without needing mass scale The internet itself may be evolving from: an information network into: an economic + creative + social coordination layer. Retail adoption may not come from everyone becoming “crypto traders.” It may come from people simply using systems that quietly run on crypto underneath. Rewards. Membership. Ownership. Participation. Reputation. Connectivity. Creative collaboration. Most users may never even think about wallets, chains, or tokens directly. Just like most people today don’t think about TCP/IP while using the internet. Crypto may increasingly become invisible infrastructure. And AI may actually accelerate this transition rather than replace it. Because infinite AI-generated content, agents, & automation increase the need for: * provenance * coordination * incentives * ownership * identity * programmable value transfer AI creates abundance. Crypto helps coordinate abundance. That combination may unlock entirely new digital species of community, creativity, & collaboration that barely exist yet today. The Cambrian Explosion wasn’t the survival of everything. It was the beginning of complexity. Feels like we may be entering that phase now. From Dream to Empire 🏛️ ~🧉🐻⚔️
