Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer is a malignant growth of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus. It is most commonly caused by persistent infection with Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
Risk Factors:
• Early age at marriage or first intercourse
• Multiple sexual partners
• HPV infection
• Poor genital hygiene
• Smoking and low immunity
Signs and Symptoms:
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding (between periods or after intercourse)
• Foul-smelling vaginal discharge
• Pelvic pain in advanced stages
Prevention and Management:
Regular Pap smear screening, HPV vaccination, and safe sexual practices help prevent cervical cancer. Treatment includes surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, depending on the stage.
