For a specific example like wallet balance, if you’re running your own node, would it ever be possible to for there to be a discrepancy between what your own node thinks is your balance vs what a 3rd party like Infura or Alchemy thinks is your balance?

And in that scenario, if a lot of places that you interact with like MM or OS or Uniswap are using 3rd parties to validate wallet balance, what happens then? Not a dev by any means and don’t know much, just curious and learning btw!

Thank you! Super interesting. Outside of $, seems primary incentive for running own node is to privately transact, help decentralize network, know current state of chain without 3rd parties, choose own client, choose in the event of fork, etc.
