I think we still don't think about creative and artistic work as work and wealth-generating the way we think of other industries. I think we'll see creativity as an increasingly resilient source of economic strength

What do you mean the past? I do them right now I go to people's shows to tell them they're awesome. I've made people mixtapes as a way of showing I understand their taste. I've sent strangers raw google docs of things not yet public to see what they thought. i've knocked on someone's door because they ran a label i loved. not all of these turned out how i hoped. it's hard not to come on a little strong :) but all part of the journey (and it's still continuing)

We're going to wait to publicly talk about that, but more will come out later this summer There's also a parallel track of filling many of the gaps artists experience by using existing law and software to make an A-Corp like structure available before the legal system catches up

At this point people are very sophisticated with how they run their campaigns, and know exactly how to time and build the rhythm of a successful project I think the biggest mistake people make now is thinking that there's not a built-in audience to tap into with Kickstarter. It's a giant platform. More money gets spent there than on Substack or Patreon. It remains an amazing place to launch new projects and ideas.

Hey good to connect People most genuinely collaborate and make interesting things together when a shared interest or common cause brings them together. As each new person joins the group, its capacity and abilities evolve. There are limits and breaking points to this, but I think it always starts with the shared goal even more than the specific skills people bring. It's the dish, not just the ingredients

i think you'll see your revenue diversify in your lifetime. i think you'll see royalties and passive income on a lot that you make. i think you'll be able to own meaningful entities that you're creatively involved in, and it can help add more money to your bank account. whether that will feel secure enough to go all-in i can't say, but i think the path will be there

An Artist Corporation is a new legal structure for creative work that we're both building and trying to make a law. Right now creative people are 1099 NPCs that aren't included in the mainstream economic system. A-Corps are trying to create a simple, accessible way for creative people to get more economic security, access to better healthcare, and the ability to build wealth from their work A big project with big implications, but it's about helping artists and creators go pro and capture their value in a new way

"Time Loops" by Eric Wargo. Insane theories about premonitions, dreams, and the true nature of the brain, with a lot of historical and scientific background. Mind-blowing and unknown Another "The KLF" by John Higgs. Amazing book on how ideas work. (The author is the person who also told me about Time Loops)

Hey y'all. I both love books and read constantly, and I'm the author of two published books and have several more in the works. Happy to chat about writing, process, reading, whatever.
