While browsing Reddit, I came across a post by an American considering moving to rural Japan. They shared a website listing vacant Japanese houses for sale, but one property had a terrifying photo that only Japanese people would understand.
It was a “Butsu-dan,” an altar for honoring ancestors. While its existence is common, it’s not something that should be in a vacant house.
Whoever buys this house might face something terrifying. By the way, most Japanese people wouldn’t buy a vacant house with a Butsu-dan left behind. It’s too creepy.
