What is your favorite thing about the fall season? Not much, not much at all. I get depressed because I know what’s coming. Cold winds, deep snow, ice on the roads and coldness seeping into your clothes. However, thinking about it, there are a few things I do like about the fall. Thanksgiving get togethers with the family and greeting the young kids at the door on Halloween. I do enjoy those things. The spring is my favourite season, the warmth will be coming. Everything is reborn. The fall means death. But it’s a beautiful death.

The air is cold as the power sputters and finally goes out…well after several periods of flickering lights and brief outages. I quick add some extra layers of warm clothes on as we wonder when and if the power will return today. Hours spent upon hours cooped inside as snowstorm after snowstorm rages outside.

I stare longingly out the window amidst sips of Hot chocolate, my signature drink this time of year. I hear the news somewhere in the distant…schools closed due to storm damaging power lines… I send arrows from my eyes to the snowflakes gathering on the window screen as I watch the ice-coated tree branches sway with the wind. The clouds turned a threatening shade of gray, leaving the sky an ominous shade before the snowfall; only being lighted by the bright white of the snow.
