Do passenger trains go up and down hills or do they stay on flat ground and go through tunnels instead of up and over hill or mountains? When railroads were being built in North America, flat routes were preferred for obvious reasons. The New York Central RR mainline was known as the Water Level Route. However, flat routes weren’t always possible. A competing line already had the flatter route or the railroad was trying to link cities/towns in hilly terrain.

Why is K2 more technical than Mount Everest? Much steeper ascent, more prone to unpredictable weather due to its location further north, high risk of avalanches and rockslides and a very difficult terrain that offers no flat ground for resting and continuing all make K2 the king of the mountains.

How will Trump's ending the era of mass migration as well as effectively H1B visas and foreign students affect the USA, its employment, universities, and even Social Security in the future? There has not been an era of mass migration for 100 years. Open borders ended in the 1920s. Nonetheless, the US has benefited from cheap foreign labor since then, largely illegal labor. Businessmen like Trump want some amount of illegal labor. They are never prosecuted for employing illegal labor. The increased pressure to deport illegals is wrecking many economies, with Nebraska being a prime example, and farmers everywhere suffering. Trump and the GOP like some measure of illegal labor. The closing of borders for lawful entrants has a negative effect on the economy.
