If Earth is actually a sphere, why can't I fly with plane in one direction and eventually return to where I started? You can…if you’re determined enough. It’s a very long distance for a plane to fly - but it has been done. In 1986 “Voyager” circumnavigated the globe non-stop, without refueling. It took 9 days - starting and ending at Edwards AFB. It takes a very special plane to fly non-stop for 9 days…so it’s a weird-looking thing.

Can mountains be climbed without technical gear such as rock climbing equipment or an ice axe? Is it possible to hike up a mountain without any equipment at all? This is Mount Whitney (top middle). At 14505ft, it is the highest mountain in the lower 48 states.
