Do UI wallets encourage enabling slashing protection?
UI wallets that offer integrated staking functionality are increasingly and strongly encouraging—and often requiring—the use of slashing protection. For custodial staking services within wallets (e.g., Coinbase, Binance), it is handled entirely behind the scenes. For non-custodial or semi-custodial staking solutions, the wallet interface will typically guide the user through a setup process that includes configuring a slashing protection mechanism. They may provide simplified, one-click setups or clear warnings and instructions if the user is deploying a validator manually. The wallet's incentive is aligned with this: they want to provide a safe user experience and avoid the support nightmares and reputational damage that would come from their users being slashed due to a preventable configuration error.
