Legendary investor Warren Buffett has officially announced his retirement today. In his final letter to shareholders, he shared his last public reflections:
He will no longer write annual reports or give long speeches at shareholder meetings. Berkshire’s vice chairman Greg Abel will fully take over his responsibilities.
Buffett is accelerating his lifetime donations, transferring most of his shares to the three foundations run by his children — who, he noted, are already in their 70s and “won’t live or manage forever.”
He said Berkshire will now prioritize safety over aggressive growth, admitting that many companies will outperform Berkshire over the next 10–20 years.
Buffett criticized today’s corporate culture, where CEOs and directors compete over pay rather than focus on efficiency or restraint.
Finally, he shared his life lessons:
👉 Luck is the biggest variable in life.
👉 Don’t regret past mistakes.
👉 Find role models and learn from them.
👉 Kindness is the highest standard of behavior.
After reading this, one can’t help but feel that Buffett’s life proves: long-termism, kindness, humility, and partnership are far more valuable than money — something rare in today’s noisy world.
