really impressed with time fun recently

- opinionated mechanism (creators have an excuse to launch personal tokens by selling access to dms / calls / groupchats)
- creators don't actually need to take all the calls and minutes to monetize -- speculators will trade the tokens anyway
- no gas, good web app, mobile app coming (i'm on testflight)

im still super confident a good socialfi app will happen, rooting for this team

The fundamental problem to solve for with personal tokens / creator coins / etc. is the psychological effect of a significant price decline.

1. Most people are not equipped to manage a liquid, global, 24/7 traded asset.

2. Current norms are that if someone buys an asset, they expect the person / team / organization behind that asset are incentivized long-term to make that asset more valuable.

3. When there's a significant price decline, many / most creators will be overwhelmed by the hole they now need to dig themselves out of. Layer on a bunch of angry, pseudonymous people screaming at them on the internet.

4. Additionally, what happens when you want to stop creating? Like Outdoor Boys recently did. Contrast to a publicly traded company where the founder retires—the value still continues to accrue.

Possible ways to change this

1. Invent a new asset that's time bound. Closer to a prediction market or an option. "I'm speculating on X during period Y."

2. Change norms / culture -- this is super slow.

i think the future will be app specific. you wouldn't trade $woj on coinbase, but there would be 4 different $woj tokens, on timefun, on farcaster, on zora, on instagram etc

it will be a feature of an app (and not the core value prop) and the marketcaps will also vary on each app (eg $woj on farcaster will always be much more valuable than $woj on instagram)

i wish, but doubt it can work on scale, in reality every app will want to own the fees and liquidity

Ofc pro creators are already present across all top platforms and use each of them to make money, advertise.

Ofc you can use 2 apps but it will likely be similar to hype games (> won’t use 5 at the same time) or you(r token) will be merely a collectible, a part of a game that you advertise for (panini stickers, Sorare).

It seems many creators love to experiment (to make money) but top creators (like Mr Beast, Kanye) also understand how important it is to keep their brand value high and followers safe.

It’s a feature for app builders to be able to launch random shitcoins.

It’s a 0 value prop for endusers though in 99% of cases.
