The manipulation of attention has changed over time, moving from newspapers to television to the social media economy. This new trend is fast and adaptive, but it's dangerous because it doesn't help our brains evolve. There is no fundamental change to this. Supercomputers connected together are running programs to make an algorithm that is optimized to give you what they think you want. The algorithm makes your feed better for what you want everyday. Everyone on the internet is being watched. Every interaction we make likes, time spent looking at media is monitored. We have lost controls of how we interact. I feel like these models are controlling us. The system is just confusing, like putting jazz on Gen Z. It messes with our minds. A very detrimental stuff and it's crazy, where people are divided and have opposite interests. This algo isn’t giving what you want, it is jus clearly based on what their models thinks you want, ugggh. We're the product. Our attention and interest is what is sold.
