A Summary of Modern History
Today, I delved into modern history, a period filled with profound changes and significant events that reshaped the world.
It witnessed the rise and fall of empires, the clash of cultures, and the struggle for independence. The Industrial Revolution, starting in the 18th century, transformed economies from agrarian to industrial, spawning new technologies and altering social structures. Machinery replaced manual labor, factories mushroomed, and urbanization surged.
Colonialism was another dominant theme. European powers expanded overseas, exploiting resources and imposing rule on Africa, Asia, and the Americas. This brought prosperity to the colonizers but oppression and cultural upheaval to the colonized. Resistance movements gradually emerged, with people fighting for national sovereignty and self-determination.
