I love instagram ads. Search for something I want online and then wait a couple weeks for the right thing to find me. 

Is sort of a lesson in platform incentive alignment and how basic search somehow lacks it, I guess.

i hate getting ads to products that i already own. but yes, instagram has very precise ads algo

I feel like getting an ad for something I already own is a win win! Just affirming my choices. 

But yeah it can be annoying that they don’t realize.
