I love instagram ads. Search for something I want online and then wait a couple weeks for the right thing to find me. Is sort of a lesson in platform incentive alignment and how basic search somehow lacks it, I guess.

I feel like getting an ad for something I already own is a win win! Just affirming my choices. But yeah it can be annoying that they don’t realize.

Letting the ads work for you is a great passive research strategy

Right, It's like the algorithm plays this weird game of hide-and-seek—you search, forget, and then boom: 'Remember this thing you definitely still want?' Kinda wild how 'optimized discovery' means waiting for ads to do the work search should’ve done in the first place.

My experience with ads has been prevailing annoying... Maybe it's just my mindset 😏

getting disturbing after a while tho. should ask us directly "did you buy this product already" sometimes

often, these ads remind us to buy things we didn’t need until we saw the ad
